Hello to all you mead lovers, mead makers and mead enthusiasts from around the world.

At the end of the Mazer Cup International 2013 we all expected to be in a very different place than we are now. Mother nature stepped into the picture and changed things in a very big way touching the lives of many family, friends and long-time associates of the Mazer Cup International. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the people who were affected by the Colorado Floods in 2013

The wonderful venue where we held the first MCI Mead Mixer experienced heavy damage and is under repair. We expect to be able to return to a Spice of Life for the 2015 Mazer Cup International. Make no mistake we intend to host the 2nd Annual Mead Mixer there and will strive to make it even bigger and better than the first.

As we scrambled to find a venue to host the Mead Mixer and our competition it quickly became apparent that availability was going to be a problem. Once we started contacting facilities we found that they were either booked solid during our window of opportunity, or were priced out of our budget range. We kept pursuing alternate places and facilities until Mid-December, but to no avail. So this year is a competition only year, and we will do our best to ensure that it is run with the precision and organization that has come to be associated with the Mazer Cup International Mead Competition.

The amazing number of entries we received last year from around the world presented a challenge in terms of people, venue and time. We actually had to finish the commercial competition on Saturday morning due to the sheer number of commercial entries. As a result, this year we are going to have to limit the number of entries in both the Home and Commercial Meadery competition in order to ensure we complete judging within our proscribed times and days. Our Board of Directors have been working hard to plan and organize our resources as efficiently as possible.

The MAZER CUP INTERNATIONAL MEAD COMPETITION governing committee is organized and promoted by volunteers who are home mead makers, mead enthusiasts and mead lovers from around the globe. No members on the Board of Directors is employed by or affiliated with any commercial meadery. The Mazer Cup International Incorporated is a non-profit organization registered with the State of Colorado. All proceeds from entry fees and associated events are used to fund the competitions and associated events.

As luck would have it the Boulder Outlook Hotel did not have to close as soon as was anticipated, and was not damaged by the flooding. Patrick, Dan and Sue have very kindly extended their hospitality to the Mazer Cup International for the 2014 competition. So a big thank you to the Boulder Outlook Hotel for coming to our rescue.Thank you for your support
